HEART BAG DIY
How cute is this?? It was so easy to customize this inexpensive bag that I recently picked up! I found this good sized bag from Dollarama for $4. The rest of the elements were from my "craft room" so cost me nothing :)
I used some thick poster board to create my heart template. Simply folded it in half, and eyeballed the center of the bag. I then held it in place and drew half of a heart in free hand. While it remained folded, I held it tight and cut it out. Voila.....a perfect heart.
I used a regular ball point pen to lightly trace the heart. I figured the paint would cover my pen lines so wasn't too worried about the pen.
Bought this paint at Michaels
This natural fabric absorbed the paint fairly quickly, so I was pretty generous in applying it.
I also took an old placemat, covered it in a plastic bag - and then inserted it. That way it would catch any paint that wanted to creep through. In the end, none actually did, but it was for safe measure :)
I had some twine that I had bought at a grocery store, so I made up a couple easy tassels. I ended up deciding on only using 1. I had some inexpensive yarn and created a little pom pom.
Thought 1 pom pom and 1 tassel were a cute blend of "sweet" and "natural"..... but obviously you could do whatever suits your bag....
Pretty darn cute I thought :)
Great for the beach or for the market.....taking the kiddos to the pool....
Endless possibilities.....write a big word on it, paint whatever you like, make it your own!
$4 and about 15 minutes......easy peesy!
